June Goals 2018

Happy (almost) June! As you may have heard in Sunday Scratches #31, June is going to be a big month for me and Sean… we’re moving back to Michigan!

So as the craziness continues (and then hopefully begins to calm down), my theme has been “maintenance.” But before we get into goals for June, let’s recap my goals for May.

May Recap

Personal Goals

  • Finish Protector of the Small. ✔ Done! I finished the final book one morning when I had the ability to sit down for an hour and a half and just read. It was wonderful. Now I’m prioritizing books I already own that I can get rid of, since it’s on my 101 in 1001: Take 2 to read and get rid of 25 books that I already own! Plus, owning less just feels nice.

  • Publish 5 blog posts and 3 newsletters. ✔ When I set this goal, I completely forgot about Sunday Scratches, so the 5 blog posts part of this was way easier than I anticipated. My normal schedule would have accounted for 14 blog posts, not the 10 I originally stated, and since Sunday Scratches are much less intimidating to write, I cranked out 5 in no time. I just barely made it with newsletters, but I made it nonetheless! The final tally was 9 blog posts and 3 newsletters.

Woo! This is the first time in my current season of monthly goals posts that I’ve actually crossed off all of my goals! It helps that I was realistic about my time and only had two major goals for myself.

On that note, let’s check out my goals for June.

June Goals

Personal Goals

  • Move into our house! I’m so excited to get settled into our new house. I know we’ll still have a ton of work to do by the end of the month (and that we’ll probably never really feel “done” with it), but I want to move in and get all of our current stuff unboxed. I don’t want to be one of those people that’s getting ready to move and they still have boxes they never unpacked from the previous move!
  • Finish 1 book. I know that I’ll need some personal time as we go through this huge transition, so I want to make sure I’m still reading. But I also want to make sure I’m not setting unrealistic goals for myself, so I’m going to try to finish at least one book this month!

And Possibly Dinosaurs Goals

  • Write 6 blog posts and 2 newsletters. I’m going to stick with the “maintenance mode” on the blog for another month as we settle into our new life in Kalamazoo. My normal schedule of blog posts on Sunday / Tuesday / Thursday and newsletters on Wednesday would call for 12 blog posts and 4 newsletters in June, so I’m cutting that in half to allow for some flex time as needed. I’m still a little nervous that I won’t be able to get it done, but I don’t want to give up completely so I’m still going to challenge myself to do some writing!

Whew! June is going to be crazy but exciting. What are your goals for the month?

So I guess that’s my personality now.
