Last week, I attended the book launch party of A Very Merry Bromance, the newest book by Lyssa Kay Adams!
Lyssa lives in the Lansing area, so her book launch party was hosted at Schuler Books, a local bookstore chain. The Okemos store is about an hour and a half away from me, but I made the 3-hour round-trip trek out to celebrate the fifth book in one of my favorite book series!

December was a big reading month for me. In fact, according to Goodreads, December 2020 marked the most books I’ve read in a single month since I’ve had an account in 2011!
I started out the month with my typical reads, and then went hard on holiday-themed books. It was so fun!

November was a good month for reading: I loved pretty much everything I read, and I hit my goal of reading 52 books this year!
Let’s get to the reviews.
It’s clear that this pandemic isn’t going anywhere soon. Yes, there are two very promising vaccines on the way, but the distribution will still take some time. Fauci says we’ll likely still be social distancing until Q3 or Q4 of 2021, so I’m making plans for a quarantined winter.
And for the record, this isn’t “another quarantine” for our household—we’ve pretty much been home since March, with a few small, pre-planned, and safe exceptions. So the biggest difference for us is that we won’t be spending time on our porch, in our backyard, or at our local park as much. But otherwise it will pretty much be same old, same old.
So after 8 months of quarantining, how are we planning to stay entertained this winter? Well I’ve got a few ideas.

October was a big month for reading! I finished 7 (!!) books this month, and made a lot of progress on my reading goals for my 101 in 1001 list.

September was a big reading month for me! I was feeling a bit behind on my goal of reading 52 books this year, so I challenged myself to read 6 books in a month, and I succeeded!
There have been a lot of quarantrends over the past 6 months, but one I fell hard and fast for: Animal Crossing.
Sean and I were very lucky to receive a Nintendo Switch for Christmas last year, which means we got one juuuuust in time for Chinese factories to shut down and a worldwide Nintendo Switch shortage to occur. Grateful is an understatement.
I’ve felt all spring and summer like I don’t really have any hobbies, but then I realized that, as sad as it may sound, Animal Crossing is 100% a hobby of mine, and I’m becoming more and more okay with it.

Quarantine has been a really good opportunity to learn how to entertain ourselves. While board games are obviously great for big groups of people, there’s a lot to be said for two-player games as well.
Just because we can’t get together in big groups doesn’t mean we can’t play board games! If you’re staying home with a roommate or significant other, here are some games to add to your repertoire.
