Aaah, a new month! As much as I love setting a New Year’s Resolution each January, there’s something special about the beginning of the month (and, if we’re being honest, the beginning of the week) as well.
I used to post monthly goal round-ups and check-ins, but I got away from it once I decided to hyper-focus my content. Now that I’m back to more of a lifestyle blog, I’ve decided to start sharing my goals each month!
Here’s what I’m hoping to accomplish in February, both personally and for the blog.
Personal Goals
First, let’s talk personal goals. There’s a lot encompassed in this category, since it’s anything that doesn’t fall under my blog or my job.
Finish My Personal Portfolio Site
Once I got my job at Girl Scouts, I left my portfolio site out to dry. I stopped updating it, it broke after a while, and I just let it sit there like that. I wasn’t looking for a job, so why bother?
I’m not necessarily looking for a new job right now, but I’ve realized the importance of keeping things like my portfolio site and LinkedIn profile up to date as much as possible. You never know when things might change!
And with my new name, I figured now was the perfect time to crank it out with my new URL. I’ve got the tech side set up for the most part, so now I need to update the old stuff and add new content. Not just portfolio pieces, but resume-type content as well.
Wedding Thank-You Cards
I started writing thank-you cards for my wedding gifts before we left for our honeymoon and then….. stopped. I’ve decided I want to have all of them (or at least the ones I’m responsible for writing… which is about 2/3) done by our 6 month anniversary. And that’s March 3! So let’s set a stretch goal of the end of February.
I can already feel my hand cramping.
Finish the Eragon Book Series
One of my newest goals has been to read a ton of books that we already own (sorry, library, but it’s time we took a break). It’s even part of my 101 in 1001 to read and get rid of 25 books that we already own. (Just getting rid of the books doesn’t count… I need to read them.)
I started out with the Eragon book series, mostly because they’re massive, hardcover books, and I knew I’d be okay with letting them go once I read them. I’m about halfway through the third book (of four), so I’d like to ramp up my reading this month finish the last two!
Complete the Wall Squat Challenge with Angela
Since I’ve been trying to exercise more, I’m really excited about this one! Angela and I are going to complete a Wall Squat Challenge together this month (okay, so it’s 30 days long, so through March 2). We start out today with 10 seconds of wall sitting, then add 10 seconds each day until we get to a total of 5 minutes on day 30. Yowza. My legs hurt already, and I haven’t even started the challenge yet!
Outline What Information is Needed for Our Home Book
This is another goal that goes along with my 101 in 1001. In the past few months, we’ve had a few family friends die unexpectedly and seen the impact that can have on those left behind, especially if they’re the ones who normally pay the bills.
Since finances is my territory, I’ve decided to create a Home Book for Sean with information about where our money is, when bills are due, how to pay them, etc. The prospect overwhelms me, so I want to spend this month outlining it and deciding what should go in it. Once I know that, I can pretty easily crank everything out. It’s just the “wtf am I supposed to include in this?” that intimidates me.
P.S. Any recommendations of what to include? Please let me know in the comments!
And Possibly Dinosaurs Goals
Next up, blogging goals! Now that I’m back in the swing of things after my 2017 hiatus, it’s time to start making bigger goals!
Submit Taxes
First, the not-so-fun but super-necessary one: submit my taxes. I’d like to get this done by the end of February (but if we’re being honest, this weekend would be ideal) so I’m not waiting until the last minute and know how long my current blog and business income will last me.
Post to Instagram Stories Every Day
I’m struggling with social media right now, if we’re being honest. So I’d like to post to Instagram Stories every day in February (which is on my 101 in 1001!) so I can experiment with it and see what I enjoy posting about. Even just one post per day is okay! It’s getting me out of my comfort zone and putting the fun back into social media.
P.S. Give me a follow over here!
Increase Instagram Following to 100
And on a similar note, I’d like to increase my And Possibly Dinosaurs Instagram account to 100! I launched it when I came back from the hiatus in December, and I’m already at 61 followers! I’d love to hit 100 by the end of the month.
P.S. Give me a follow over here!
Fix My 50 mm Lens
And finally, I’d like to (finally) fix my 50 mm lens, which is also on my 101 in 1001. The focus stopped moving last summer when I was at Girl Scout Camp for work (I don’t think it was because of camp), and it hasn’t been working since.
Hopefully it’s not too expensive to fix! I’ll likely use my business tax refund to cover the cost. There’s a place between my office and home that does lens repair, so hopefully I can drop it off after work one day and pick it up a few days later!
February is going to be a good, productive month! I can feel it! I’ve got 9 goals I’d like to accomplish personally and for my blog, and I’m feeling confident that I can cross all of them off. Wish me luck!
What are you hoping to accomplish in February?
I love that you’re getting back to a more lifestyle blog! I think we talked about this a little bit before, but it’s nice to see a little more change in the content being shared online.
Also, I really like your goal to read the books you own and get rid of some. I’m bad about buying a lot of books but then reading on my Kindle. I want to try to read at least 1 book from my shelves every other month this year.
Thank you for sharing! They all sound super challenging – at least for me. I always start some active challenge (last month it was The Plank Challenge) and it always hurts as hell at first, but it’s all worth it at the end! 🙂 Good Luck with all your goals this month! 🙂 x
Thank you! 🙂 And oh man, a plank challenge is something I’d LOVE to do. It would be so hard but so rewarding!!
