My most recent 101 in 1001 list started on Friday, and one somewhat ironic theme of the list is entertaining. Don’t get me wrong—Sean and I are 100% not entertaining people right now, since, yunno, global pandemic. But I’m at least a little bit hopeful that there will be a vaccine within the next 1,001 days, so Sean and I will be able to start entertaining again.
I really want to be “the house that everyone goes to” once the world opens up again, so I want to improve my entertaining / hosting skills. One of the most fun skills I want to develop is bartending.
Right now I’ve only got two cocktail recipes at the ready: sour amaretto and Moscow mules. I could stumble my way through a margarita if I needed to, too. But I’d really like to have a bunch of recipes memorized so I could easily make a cocktail for anyone who comes to visit.
In order to prioritize that, I included on my list that I want to learn how to make 15 cocktails without having to follow a recipe. These are the 15 cocktails I’ve selected:
- Bellini
- Cosmopolitan
- Daiquiri
- Gin and Tonic
- Mai Tai
- Manhattan
- Martini
- Mint Julep
- Mojito
- Negroni
- Old Fashioned
- Sidecar
- Tequila Sunrise
- Tom Collins
- Whiskey Sour
I’m really excited to play around with these, find (or create!) a recipe I like, and memorize them.
Have any recipes for the above cocktails you think I should try? Leave them in the comments! I’m all ears!
