somehow we’ve found ourselves at another 101 in 1001 list!
i’m writing this on july 22, but the fifth iteration of my 101 in 1001 list started back on april 4, 2026. the last few months have just been… *gestures wildly* so i’m a bit behind on my blog posts.
but even though i haven’t been writing, i have been working on the items on the list! but that’s a topic for another day.
if you’re not familiar with the concept, a 101 in 1001 is a list of 101 things you’d like to accomplish in 1,001 days, which works out to just less than three years. i started my first list back in 2015, and while my attention to the lists have ebbed and flowed throughout the years, i’ve stuck with the habit of starting a new list as soon as one ends.
i have a couple of personal policies related to my list, the main one being i can change any item throughout the 1,001 days as i see fit. after all, a lot can happen over the course of 3 years. in general, i try to set a good mix of short-term and long-term goals, so that i have regular progress and bigger projects to work toward.
my current record is 68 items completed, and i’m always striving to complete more. in fact, it’s always my first item on my list—beat my previous record of items completed. and it’s not just for the sake of hitting a higher number; they’re all things i want to accomplish, so it’s a way to motivate myself to do those things.
over the last few years, i’ve been trying to slow down and appreciate life more. i’m taking a hard swing away from hustle culture that was so prominent when i started my first 101 in 1001 list. i asked myself what hobbies i want to spend more time on, what i want the vibe of my life to feel like, and how i want to feel over the course of the next 1,001 days.
does that mean i have entire sections of items devoted just to disney dreamlight valley and pokopia? you better believe it. at first it felt weird, but then i thought back to my third 101 in 1001 list, in the height of covid, when i had a whole section devoted to animal crossing. and it was fun. i want more of that unapologetic joy in my life. so yes, 13 of the 101 items are specifically about the two video games i’m currently obsessed with, and i am so excited about it.
(it’s also helping me focus on those two games that i enjoy and have already paid for, instead of getting distracted by shiny new games that cost more money. here’s looking at you, tomodachi life.)
i also have a whole section devoted to florida. a tiny bit of my soul died when i realized i wanted to have a florida section (because, yunno… *gestures wildly in the direction of florida*). but i’m actually there quite often, because both my job and my in-laws are in central Florida. in fact, i go down enough that one of my best friends, amanda, and i got season passes to universal studios florida back in march. (hence all of the items specific to universal / harry potter world).
so without further ado, here is my fifth 101 in 1001 list! i will keep the dedicated page updated with progress and changes, but this is the unaltered list from april 2026, when it first started.
