Today marks day 700 of my second 101 in 1001 challenge! Let’s see how I’m doing so far.
1 Goal Completed
Being 70% of the way through my 1001 days, I should definitely have crossed off more than one goal… but at least it’s better than nothing!
62. Fix or replace my trench coat.
At least 5 years ago, on a suuuuper windy day, I somehow lost the belt to my trench coat. It must have gotten caught in my car door, gotten pulled out of my coat, and blown away. I have no idea what else could have happened to it, because it has been gone ever since. I tried using scarves, wearing it without a belt, everything… and I just didn’t love it. Recently I realized it’s also too small now, so I decided it was time to replace it. And with 50% off at JCrew for Black Friday, I finally made the plunge! I’m so happy with my new trench coat.
11 Goals in Progress
3. Read 75 books.
I’ve read 5 books since my last check-in, putting me at 51! I’m buckling in for winter cozy season when I do all the reading. Plus, my goal for 2020 is to read 52 books, or one book per week, so I’m hoping I crank out the final 24 books rather quickly.
13. Create a go-to hair style for nice events / going out (excluding having my hair down).
I’m hoping to nail this down this month (it’s part of my December goals!). I tried one style, and I can’t tell if I did it poorly, or if my hair is just too short for it… which is why I’ll be testing it out more this month to see if I can get it to work.
16. Pay off our student loans.
Slowly but surely…
37. Donate at least $250 to the ACLU of Kentucky via my business income.
I made a little bit of affiliate income over the past few months, which enabled me to make another small donation! I’m now up to $154.47.
42. Rebrand the InDesign Adventure Guide.
This whole project intimidates the hell out of me, so I’m making suuuuch slow progress with it. But I wrote another script, so at least progress is still happening!
55. Organize the bathroom closet.
We have a plan now! Sean and I found a cabinet that we want to put in the bathroom, which will enable us to organize the closet a lot better. It’s on our list to purchase in January or February!
77. Complete the Give a Craft Beer Trail Passport.
We’re at 14 of 17 now after visiting Wax Wings Brewing.
80. Go to 5 local festivals.
In my last check-in I mentioned that we got tickets to the Michigan Mac and Cheese festival, which we went to in October! It was a blast, but (I can’t believe I’m saying this) waaaay too much mac and cheese.
81. Visit 25 new-to-me places in Kalamazoo (as of Sept. 1, 2019).
After adding this to the list in the last check-in, we’ve visited 7 more places, putting us at a total of 10: Homer Stryker Field for the Mac and Cheese festival, Wax Wings Brewing, Water Street Coffee Joint on Oakland, This is a Bookstore, Bookbug, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (which we now have a membership to!), and LFG Gaming Bar.
89. Try 10 different amber beers.
I’m now up to 7! When we were in Florida in October, we went to a beer store with a few beers on tap for samples and growler fills, so I tried two there. I have to say, the more ambers I try, the more it confirms the fact that I don’t really care for them. But that’s okay! That’s why I wanted to try a bunch. At least I know that the style isn’t for me, and it’s not that I just didn’t like the first amber I tried.
100. Take a pottery class.
I’ve signed up for two pottery classes! The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts offers art classes, and I signed up for a 12-week Beginners Ceramics class for myself, and a couples ceramics class for me and Sean on Valentine’s Day! So come January this will be crossed off.
Not the 70 I’d like to be at, but still making solid progress with 51!
