A Challenge for Quarantine

April 8, 2020

Life is stressful right now. Everyone is feeling it. The world is basically falling apart, and pretty much the only thing we can do is… nothing.

And isn’t that one of the most frustrating parts about it? One of the best remedies for anxiety is action, but right now the only action we should be taking is staying home, which… doesn’t feel like an action at all.

But the other day I had an epiphany: there is something we can do.

How to Tolerate an Intolerable Work Environment

How to Tolerate an Intolerable Work Environment

I’m going to preface this post by saying that this content is not inspired by or referencing my current job. So if any of my coworkers are reading this, I’m not talking about you! 😜

We spend about a third of our life at work. With that kind of time investment, you better like your job! Or at least be passably okay with it.

So when you find yourself in an intolerable work environment, what can you do to, well… tolerate it? Because few of us have enough savings to quit without something else lined up (but, you know, #goals), we have to spend at least a little bit of time in this situation before finding something new.

How to Be a Feminist Blogger (Without Writing about Feminism)

How to Be a Feminist Blogger Without Writing about Feminism

As a blogger, it’s important to keep in mind the content you’re sharing and only write about topics you’re comfortable writing about. It makes sense, then, that some bloggers, while they identify as feminists, don’t want to write about feminism.

This decision could be from a range of reasons, like not wanting to polarize your audience, not feeling confident enough in your feminism journey, or something else entirely.

And no matter your reason, it’s totally okay to be a feminist and not want to write about feminism. Your decision is personal, and it’s no one else’s business why you’re choosing not to.

That being said, it’s still totally possible to be a feminist blogger without writing about feminism.

9 Ways to Make Your Home More Eco-Friendly

This post contains affiliate links that I could make commission off of. All opinions are my own. Learn more.

Throughout the years, Sean and I have been working really hard to make our home more eco-friendly. We know climate change is a huge deal, so we’re trying to make as little an environmental impact as we can every day.

And surprisingly, these changes aren’t very difficult to make. With just one small change at a time, it’s amazing how eco-friendly your home can become in hardly any time at all!

So, outside of recycling, what are some little things you can do around your house today to be more eco-friendly?

Women in Technology: Why It Matters

May 16, 2017

Representation is incredibly important, but it's not really present in the technology industry. So, why aren't there many women in technology, and how are women working to change that? I'm glad you asked!

Hey everyone! Excited to introduce the newest guest post at And Possibly Dinosaurs. Kate Harveston is here to talk about women in technology, and why representation matters! Enjoy!

Walk into a Silicon Valley office building, or even browse the company’s website to learn about its staff, and you’ll probably wonder where all the women are. The tech industry has long been criticized for having a gender imbalance, but there’s hope!

Many dedicated people and organizations are working to improve perceptions and pave the way for women who want to shine in tech jobs. These efforts totally matter — here’s why.

How to Share Your Real Self Online When You (or Your SO) are Introverted

April 18, 2017

Bloggers have to have a distinct personality to be successful. So how do you share your real self online when you (or your SO) are introverted?

Bloggers are told time and time again that we have to infuse our personality into our brand. And it’s true! To make yourself stand out, it’s important that you share your real self online so your audience understands who the heck they’re talking to.

So, what do you do when you’re super introverted and don’t like talking about yourself? Or maybe your significant other has very intentionally created their personal brand at work, with friends, etc., and doesn’t want you to share the personal, intimate stories that are just for you.

Don’t panic! It’s still totally possible to share your real self online, even when you (or your significant other) are introverted.

March 14, 2017

Blogging BFFs are awesome to be around. But they're not just fun: they're also good for your well-being! Here are the 8 reasons blogging BFFs are super helpful to your mental health.

Blogging can be such a lonely industry. Most of us sit at our computers, all alone (except maybe a dog or a cat), with no one to talk to but our mysterious “audience.”

While a lot of us have full-time jobs to give us some human interaction, the actual act of blogging can be quite lonesome.

Believe it or not, blogging BFFs can actually have a huge impact on your well-being. Here’s why.

What is Femmephobia? (and How Does It Impact Your Business?)

November 2, 2016

Femmephobia can be a big problem for small business owners. But what is it, and how is it impacting your business?

One of my favorite things about blogging and online business is how many women are empowered to run their own small businesses.

In fact, most of the blogs I read are written by women. And at my monthly blogging meetup, almost all of the attendees are female.

It’s awesome! And so encouraging to see how many women are rocking their businesses.

However, as women, there’s one thing we need to keep in mind when running our businesses, especially online: femmephobia.
