Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday and happy new year! Here are the scratches for the week.
The week between Christmas and New Years is always weird… my office closes for that week, so I spend the week out of my routine, feeling like I can start my new years resolutions yet, and I just sit around waiting for the new year to begin. I have to say, it’s not my favorite.
That being said, I’m really working to enjoy the present, and not wish days away. I spent a bunch of time during the beginning of the week reading and wrapping up my December goals (including finally fixing my giraffe mask, above!), which made me feel really good.
I also finished painting the porch on Monday (🥳) and we ordered twinkle lights to hang up around the ceiling, so once those arrive we’ll just need to tile the floor, find a new storm door, and fill it with plants and furniture!
Sean and I had no plans for NYE, which was wonderful. We played video games, watched TV, and read all evening. Sean fell asleep around 11:15, but I stayed up reading Know My Name until midnight. After a bunch of crazy NYEs the past few years, it was nice to spend it relaxing this year.
I went back to work on Thursday, and to be honest, I expected Thursday and Friday to be crazier. They really weren’t bad! The Cookie Program began in western Ohio on Friday, so between Cookies and camp registration opening soon, I’ve got plenty of work to do… but nothing is so urgent that it’s stressing me out.
The end of the week was also full of fun deliveries… our office ceiling light shade finally arrived (it was backordered when we originally ordered it), and I got some rain boots, the greatest chunky sweater, and a shelf for our bathroom all delivered on Thursday and Friday!
So, funny story about the rain boots. I’ve been wanting some nice rubber boots for a while, and when I saw that there were light pink ones available, I added them to my wish list. They were on sale for $99 (normally $165) for the holidays, so I jumped on it. I have a maroon rain coat, and when I tried them on with jeans, the color combination was awesome.
But then I realized I’d be wearing them mostly in the summer, so I tried them on with shorts… and I knew I had to return them. I have very pale skin, and the light pink was basically the same shade as my legs. Sean said I looked like I had mutant feet, and Angela said it looked like I had Barbie legs. Normally I would have exchanged them for the black ones in the same style, but of course those ones aren’t on sale, so I’ll wait until the spring to decide on rain boots.
Since I’m getting a refund on the rain boots, I ended up getting another cozy purchase (which works so well with my Word of the Year!), this fuzzy fleece. It arrives on Monday and I can already tell I’m going to live in it all winter.
As I mentioned, we got a shelf for our bathroom, which is helping with one of my 101 in 1001 items, organize the bathroom closet! I got it set up during my lunch break, and now it’s a great place for our towels, wash clothes, and other helpful items guests might need. But we realized there was still a lot of organization that needed to happen in the closet, so we ran to Michael’s and got a rolling cart to fit in the closet!
I’m planning on spending a good chunk of the day today on bathroom organization so I can get it crossed off my 101 in 1001 list. Stay tuned for a full post about the updates!
