Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! Here are the scratches for the week.
This week was rough. Honestly, probably one of the hardest weeks work-wise since the pandemic. I worked really late into the evening most of the week and still felt like I was barely keeping my head above water. But here’s hoping that the worst is past, and that I can set some better work/life boundaries in the coming weeks!
That being said, this week is a virtual work conference that will mean more long hours—but it will be fun! I went to the conference last February when it was in person in St. Louis (😅) and had a blast. Here’s hoping it’s just as great virtually!
I finally hit a milestone this week that almost everyone else in the world has already experienced: a quarantine birthday. I turned 30 this week, and it was just as meh as I expected. A bit of a bummer, but I kept reminding myself that it’s a day like any other, and I can celebrate once it’s safe to do so again.
Oh, but President Biden was in Kalamazoo on my birthday, so that was fun! We were joking that Sean planned the best surprise party ever.
I’ve really hit the pandemic wall this week, and I keep feeling the urge to do some retail therapy. It has not been easy to resist. I can’t stop thinking about these amazing Girl Scouts / K-Swiss shoes that just came out. I might have to treat myself to them once March arrives.
I’ve been feeling in a reading funk lately—anyone else? I’m normally super amped to read all the time, but picking up books has been hard lately. I decided to finally read HRH: So Many Thoughts on Royal Style and loved it.
I also crossed off two items from my 101 in 1001 list this week! On my birthday, I was able to get the final KK Slider song in Animal Crossing (#91), and this morning we finished up organizing the laundry room (#40). I’m excited to share a tour soon!
