Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! Here are the scratches for the week.
Sean and I had the week off of work again this past week! My office closes from Christmas through New Years, so we coordinate Sean’s vacation days to take the same time off.
To be honest, I didn’t relax as much over the past two weeks as I expected to / wanted to. I mentioned this to my therapist and she said a lot of people are feeling similarly. We have time off, but we can’t go anywhere, so it’s just point out our isolation.
As anxious as I feel about starting work back up tomorrow, I’m also really looking forward to the return to a routine! Silver lining.
We wrapped up the Choose Your Own Adventure game with Sean’s family on Tuesday. We got a different outcome than when Sean and I played a few months ago, which was really fun!
I also got my new iPad and Apple Watch in the mail this week! They were my gifts to myself to celebrate paying off our student loans (which means I got to cross 3 things off my 101 in 1001 list!). I’m trying to figure out exactly what I’ll use my iPad for—I’m definitely planning on using it for recipes, to watch TV, for yoga classes, and to learn calligraphy, but I go back and forth on using it for a digital planner. We’ll see what I decide! And I’ve been really enjoying tracking my fitness with my Apple Watch—those rings are really motivating!
Throughout the second half of the week, Sean redid a bunch of the plumbing work in the laundry room. We had an old utility sink (it was solid concrete and easily weighed 200 lbs) that had seen better days, and a bunch of the plumbing around it was corroded, so we replaced it all this week. We originally thought we’d be able to lift the sink off its metal stand and move it to some wood blocks, but… nope. It was a bunch of rotating it from one table to the next. It’s a miracle neither of us got hurt and we didn’t break anything—as soon as Sean lifted the sink off the stand, the legs instantly started crumbling, so there was no going back!
The nice thing is, as of this morning, we have a new sink, some new non-corroded (and non-leaking) plumbing, a giant spray faucet (which will help with laundry and brewing!), and fewer tubes strung through the ceiling. Plus, we were able to swap the washer and dryer around so the doors don’t get in each other’s way!
It feels so good to have that taken care of. Now we just need to get the old concrete sink out (I have the feeling a sledgehammer will be involved…) and organize the rest of the room!
On Thursday, we did a virtual New Years Eve party with our friends Josh and Ashley. It was a bummer that we couldn’t get together in person, but it was still nice to hang out.
