Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

(Yes, all of my photos as of late have been some combination of my dog and a Christmas tree. Sorry not sorry.)
Happy Sunday! Here are the scratches for the week.
It was our last week of work for 2020, and it was brutal, but I’m so glad to be past it. Hello, two weeks of vacation! My office closes from Christmas Eve through New Years Day, so Sean and I decided to take this coming Monday through Wednesday off as well for two full weeks off.
We intended to spend the first two weeks in Florida with his family, but decided last weekend that it would be safest for everyone if we stayed home. We’re super bummed, but I’m doing my best to enjoy all of the time at home!
At work, I had to get everything set up for the Cookie Program (which starts on January 1! Eeep!) and summer camp before I could take vacation. And wowza did I really push it—I wrapped up my finally work task at 6 pm on Friday. But it’s all done!
Since I was so stressed out about work, my therapist recommended I give myself a break on all of the other facets of my life—do what I can, and let the rest go. It was great advice, because my brain was pretty much shutting down by 3 pm anyway.
I haven’t really been in a reading mood lately, and interestingly, the moment I told myself that I don’t need to read this week, I suddenly wanted to again. I clearly accidentally made it a chore, and by removing that aspect of it, I was able to enjoy it again! I ended up finishing One Day in December, which was pretty good. I got it from Book of the Month (I just signed up last month!), and the book includes fun cocktail and sandwich recipes in the back. I can’t wait to try them!
We also finished our rewatch of Community this week, and capped it off with their quarantine table read. It was so fun! It also reminded me how much I love The 88 and Pedro Pascal. We’re now (naturally) working our way through the second season of The Mandalorian.
To celebrate vacation, I spent pretty much all day yesterday reading (I started This Time Next Year, which is also from Book of the Month!) and playing Animal Crossing. Today I’m working my way through a massive pile of laundry, which feels so good to get done!
