I’m now past the halfway mark with my 101 in 1001: Take 2 list! Eep!
It’s been just over 500 days since I started my list, which means I should have 50 or 51 items done. And I’m pretty close with 49! Let’s check in with everything I’ve accomplished since the last check-in.
7 Goals Completed
1. Beat my previous 101 in 1001 record of 42.
Woo! In February I beat my previous record. It wasn’t terribly hard to do, because I gave up less than halfway through, but by crossing this item off, I proved to myself that I could go 1,001 days without giving up on something.
2. Reread A Song of Ice and Fire.
This was so fun! I didn’t quite finish the fifth book before the final season of Game of Thrones started, but I finished it before it ended. Now I’m working my way through the rest of George R. R. Martin’s books.
6. Officially change my last name.
This. Took. So. Long. The final item was changing my Global Entry account, which was tied to my passport. I had to do that in person, and of course the closest place to go is either Chicago or Detroit. But I realized that I could tie it in with a trip to our Toledo office, and that’s exactly what I did this past March!
20. Climb a 5.8 wall rock climbing.
I set this goal in my last check-in, and then went rock climbing that night. I told Sean my goal, and he said “cool, let’s find a 5.8 for you to climb.” And I did it! That very night! Find yourself someone who cheers you on like Sean cheers me on.
35. Schedule blog posts and newsletters at least one week in advance for a month.
I did this the month of March! It was really nice… and then I think I got burnt out (or maybe just overwhelmed with our office bookshelf project) that I basically stopped posting in April. An interesting observation!
45. Try out three new series on the blog.
This one I *technically* accomplished before the last check-in, but didn’t realize it because I hadn’t considered the 101 in 1001 check-ins their own series! Which they totally are.
53. Find a stool for my vanity.
It’s actually not a stool—it’s a dining room chair! You can see a photo of it at the top of this post. We got two of them for our office, and I loved them so much that I got another one for my vanity. It’s been so nice!
7 Goals in Progress
I’ve also made progress on another 7 goals!
3. Read 75 books.
I didn’t make a *bunch* of progress here, because the books I’ve been reading have been so long. Thanks, George R. R. Martin! But I’m still making progress and enjoying it along the way!
16. Pay off our student loans.
Nothing new to report here—just making our regular, way-more-than-minimum payments. On track to be debt free (excluding our mortgage) before we turn 30!
37. Donate at least $250 to the ACLU of Kentucky via my business income.
I donated another $31 thanks to a couple sales of the InDesign Adventure Guide during my birthday sale. I’m more than halfway to $250 now!
42. Rebrand the InDesign Adventure Guide.
I’ve been making very slow progress! Hoping to cross this off this summer.
52. Replace my vanity.
I haven’t really made progress on replacing my vanity, per se, but I’ve been thinking about what I want out of my vanity situation, which is a really helpful first step! It’s now in our bedroom in a corner by the window (which is the photo at the top), and I’m really liking it there. I know that I need drawers for my things (#cats), and I want it to be able to fit in between the molding better. Now I have something to keep an eye out for!
77. Complete the Give a Craft Beer Trail Passport.
I’ve gotten two more done since the last check in (we’re at 13 now!), and since the weather is warming up, I’m hoping to check out more places soon.
86. Experiment with 10 different cocktail recipes.
A Beautiful Mess shared a recipe for a Sidecar recently, and we had everything on hand, so I tried that out! I was very pleasantly surprised. Keeping that one in my recipe book to make again!
89. Try 10 different amber beers.
When we went out with friends on St. Patrick’s Day, I tried West Coast Swing by Mitten Brewing Company, putting my total at 3 of 10. Did I like it? No. Am I glad I tried it? Yes!
So there you have it! 49 out of 101 so far, with just fewer than 500 days to go. Wish me luck!
