Let’s talk about YOU: Reader survey time!

January 10, 2017

One of my favorite things to do is to help people find answers to their problems and encourage them to keep following their dreams.

But… that’s hard to do if you don’t know people’s problems and dreams!

So, would you take the next two minutes or so to fill out my seven-question reader survey? I’m going to use your answers to plan out all of my content for 2017: newsletters, blog posts, courses, and more!

Take the reader survey now!

And if you leave your email address at the end, I might follow up with more questions and a gift card for saying thank you!

Thanks, friend!

xo, Caitlin

Feminist Friday: Why is Feminism Such a Dirty Word?

Feminist Friday: Why is Feminism Such a Dirty Word?

As stated in a previous blog post, I didn’t always consider myself a feminist.

Feminists are crazy. I don’t hate men, bras, makeup, and dresses, so how could I be a feminist?

Well, pretty easily actually.

You see, while I didn’t consider myself a feminist, I have actually always been a feminist.

Let’s start off by looking at the Merriam-Webster definition of feminism:

fem·i·nism

noun \ˈfe-mə-ˌni-zəm\
the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities

St. Patrick’s Day: Not Just a Day for Drinking

St. Patrick's Day: Not Just a Day for Drinking

In the United States, St. Patrick’s Day is mainly known as the day when everyone wears a ton of green and drinks a ton of beer.

In my family, it is known as my brother Dan’s birthday!

Happy birthday, brother! This picture was taken back in the summer of 1999 when our family went to Ireland.

However, I’d like to take a look at the lesser-known sides of St. Patrick. I’m extremely interested in the six years St. Patrick was a slave, beginning when he was just 16. It’s one of those things I feel like I learned several times throughout my Catholic education, but it never really stuck. It’s definitely something I will be looking to in the future.

Something a bit more relevant than drinking and wearing green (both of which are American customs), then, is focusing on modern-day slavery and how we can work together to end it.

Warby Parker

Warby Parker

Warby Parker has been getting increased attention in the past few years. Fast Company recently  ranked the glasses company 17th on their list of Most Innovative Companies in 2014.

I’ve loved the company for a few years now. My first pair is the Preston in Whiskey Tortoise, and I love and wear them all the time.

However, I’ve decided it’s time for a change. I’ll still keep my Prestons as my go-to glasses, but I wanted a second pair that’s a little more fun for every-so-often.

I recently got a Home Try-On of five different pairs I’m interested in. How great is that? You see some glasses you like, but you aren’t sure how they’ll fit your face. Just give them your credit card number (in case you don’t send them back) and they’ll send you five frames of your choosing so you can see how they look! Brilliant.

DIY Coffee Bar for Only $20

DIY Coffee Bar

I’ve been seeing many different kinds of at-home coffee bars on Pinterest lately, and I kept thinking they would be great for when I move into a house. Then I realized I could easily make a diy coffee bar in my apartment, too.

I went to Meijer and got a three-tier bookshelf (similar) for less than $20. I put it together and cut a hole in the back where the outlet was. It fit into the space perfectly. Rather than putting the mugs on shelves above the coffee makers, I decided to put them on the shelves below.

So I guess that’s my personality now.
