Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! Here are the scratches for the week.
It’s been a long week of trying to (and failing to) recover from my trip to St. Louis. I thought I’d be able to recover last weekend, but it doesn’t always work out like you plan, and naturally I started crashing in the middle of the week when I had 2343654 other things going on.
Sean and I hit up Costco on Monday after work. It feels so nice to finally be restocked, because we’ve been avoiding a Costco run for what feels like months. I also have to say, Monday evenings are the best times for a trip to Costco. There’s no one else there!
On Tuesday I went back to my ceramics class after having a week off, and I feel like I was running around for the entire 2.5 hours trying to catch up. Eek! But we learned glazing, and I’m really excited to see how my two pieces came out.
Wednesday was a big day because P.S. I Still Love You premiered on Netflix! I absolutely loved it. Team John Ambrose forever.

I also got these amazing portraits of Stanley and Val in the mail this week! They were a surprise for Sean for Valentine’s Day. They each have a funny bio on the poster. Stanley’s says “He loves his mom and dad, barking, sniffing, barking, sitting on the cat, barking, licking plates, and barking,” and Val’s says “She’s a great cat. Her only flaw is that she’s a cat.”
Thursday was another big day, because we finished up two big projects around the house! We had people come out during the day to cut down two of our big trees. One was easily a 60-ft pine tree that was diseased and at risk of falling on our house or our neighbor’s house, and the other was a little stick of a thing in the back yard that was both unattractive and hurting our neighbor’s tree, so we knew both had to go. Sean called a company on Monday, he came out that afternoon to look at the trees and give us a quote, and his team came out Thursday to take them down. Boom! Everything went quickly but we’re really happy with the results. Once we get some more snowfall to cover up all of the debris in our yard, I’ll share a before and after.
Also on Thursday, Sean finished up the mantel for our fireplace! It’s amazing and everything I hoped for. Stay tuned for a before and after on Instagram!
On Friday, all of the activity continued with a couples ceramics class! Sean and I got to do a raku firing, which was fun because that’s what I missed in ceramics class last week. We made matching vases that are now on our bedroom mantel! We also got to try our hands at the wheel, which was… hard.
Then yesterday, my parents came into town to celebrate my birthday, which is this week! Sean made an amazing three-layer chocolate cake, and we went to an escape room. It was one of the hardest rooms and we got out with about 9 minutes to spare! Then we hit up a couple places in town before enjoying cake and opening my gift.
