Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve had a fantastic weekend so far. Here are the scratches!
The Week in Review
I absolutely killed meal planning this week. I made a bunch of food on Sunday and Monday, so Sean and I were rarely panicked about food! It was the best feeling. Note to self: having food prepped is a major anxiety reliever.
We started watching HBO’s new mini-series Chernobyl this week. Has anyone else seen it? I was really nervous about it (I’m v. queasy) but I was pleasantly surprised!
We spent a ton of time on Wednesday bundling up the branches we cut down a few weekends ago. Apparently in Kalamazoo you have to bundle your brush in twine before they’ll collect it? That was… annoying. But we made a huge dent in the pile, so that was good! The next brush pick up is in a month, so we’ll probably bundle a few branches every week so it’s not one big evening project again.
I also made a ton of progress on the bookshelves! I got everything primed earlier this week, and yesterday we picked up a few more gallons of paint, so now I can attack it. Then it’s just a matter of picking out the lights and assembling everything!
I also finished my first book of my 5-book goal for the month! I reread The Hedge Knight by George R. R. Martin and loved it. Now onto the other two Dunk and Egg books!
Yesterday we trekked up to Holland to see Avengers: Endgame with our friends Elsbeth and Rob, finally! The plan was simple: sushi downtown (there’s an amazing place Sean went during our wedding weekend) and then see the movie at 6. But something Elsbeth and I didn’t account for: it’s Tulip Time. We never made it to sushi, so we all scarfed down a bunch of popcorn in lieu of dinner. The movie, on the other hand, did not disappoint!
Today we’re doing a mix of relaxing and working around the house. Sean has done a bunch of work in our backyard, and I’ve mowed the lawn and started tidying up around the house. I’m ready for it to be summer already!
I’m also really excited because yesterday I (finally) ordered a new iPhone! I’m trading in my iPhone 6S for an iPhone XS! Good to know: if you trade in your existing iPhone for a new iPhone, you get more than if you just traded it in for an iPhone. I also requested a shipping label for my old iPhone 6, which won’t even turn on any more, so Apple will recycle it for me.
Around the Web
I’ve been watching Tidying Up with Marie Kondo (I tried the first time and got too stressed out because I wanted to get rid of everything in my house), and I loved this list of things nobody should be storing.
This is SUCH a good end-of-week ritual.
I always love hearing about other people’s strategies (or non-strategies).
I didn’t think it was possible to love Kristen Bell any more.
Cleaning shortcuts? Yes please.
I just ordered a new Pela Case for my new phone! I got the iPhone XS case in Beetroot. So excited, because these phone cases are compostable! P.S., if you use my referral link, you get $10 off your first purchase!
