Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! I’m so glad both January and the Polar Vortex are over. Here are the scratches from the week!
The Week in Review
Last weekend, Sean and I saw both Vice and On the Basis of Sex. We turned both into mini-dates by hitting up the Stamped Robin and Maru Sushi after the two movies, and we loved both! We did chef rolls at Maru again, and it’s clear that will always be the best way to order.
I also finished the second half of the last season of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt this week, and I have to say I really enjoyed it! I loved the first season and struggled to get into the second season, so I gave up on it, but eventually I went back and rewatched them all last year. Overall I’m really happy with how they ended the show.
We rented BlacKkKlansman on Amazon because we missed it in theatres, and I really enjoyed it! It was so infuriating, but in a validating way, if that makes sense?
It was a big week for movies / entertainment, because on Friday we went to the Union for dinner, drinks, and music, followed by a late showing of Aquaman. It was… entertaining. I don’t think I’d watch it again, but I’m glad I saw it.
On a similar note, I’m so happy we’re members of the AMC Stubs A-List program. I prefer local theatres, but having a subscription payment makes me so much more likely to see movies. I’m not 100% clear on the psychology behind it, but I’m much more likely to pay $20/mo for the chance to see a bunch of movies (and have the expected recurring cost) than pay $12 for a ticket to see a movie every once in a while. Either way, it’s a reasonable cost for my current lifestyle, and it’s an investment in a hobby that I really enjoy and have been neglecting, so it’s been fun to actually have an excuse to go out and see movies in theatres. (Not an affiliate, just something I really love!)
I finished up A Clash of Kings this week, so I’m making solid progress on my reread of A Song of Ice and Fire, which is on my 101 in 1001 list! Fingers crossed I can finish all 5 books before April when the final season airs!
And speaking of my 101 in 1001 list, I crossed off another item yesterday! As I was writing this post, I was drinking a Dirty Bastard from Founders, which was my 25th dark beer out of 25! Stay tuned for a larger 101 in 1001 update coming later this month.
And finally, this week has been full of planning for upcoming trips! I’m going to LA in April for my cousin’s wedding, and we’re coordinating it with Sean’s family to celebrate his brother’s 30th birthday. Plus I’m heading to Chicago in May to celebrate Angela’s birthday and see Hamilton (!!), so I’m gearing up for that! 2019 is the year of short trips for me!
Around the Web
This was such an impactful blog post. And while we’re on the subject, I’d love it if you follow me on Instagram and Goodreads so I can share more of the fun day-to-day items with you.
I’m am all about lowering food waste. I choked down like 6 pieces of pork loin throughout the week even though they weren’t that good because I couldn’t bring myself to throw them out.
I am so excited that Angela is blogging again. And I love her blog post titles inspired by pop punk songs.
Speaking of pop punk sounds, I just rediscovered this image that has 74 bands hidden in it. It was SO FUN to try to find them all.
I feel attacked. I’m such a Reluctant Doer.

I swear I shoveled this the day before. Lobster & Shrimp Mac / Dirty Pork Belly Mac at the Union Believe it or not, he was already using the pillow. I just put the blanket over him. And then he stayed there with me while I napped for 2 hours.
Follow along on Goodreads or Instagram at @caitlinhonard to hear about these things during the week! xo
