Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve been having a great weekend. Here are the scratches from this week.
The Week in Review
Sean and I made quick work of Season 2 of Iron Fist on Netflix this week. We started it last week Friday, when it originally premiered, and finished it by this past Tuesday. Highly recommend!
I’ve picked up what feels like 50 more books from the library lately (in reality it’s only 3). Next up on my list are The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander, On the Other Side of Freedom by DeRay McKesson, and The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. One of these things is not like the others…
We’re slowly but surely making progress on turning the pink bedroom in our house into our master. So far we’ve uncovered a fireplace, and I’ve started clearing out some of the items we’ve been storing in there. Next up: paint over the pink and purple walls!
I started attending a free workshop series at my local library about management for nonprofits. It’s 100% free! I highly encourage you to check out the programs and benefits offered by your local library. It’s more than just books!
Yesterday we had our friends Josh and Ashley over, and they brought along their dog Spot so they could spend the night. We ended up staying in all evening and playing board games and card games. It was a blast! Plus, I think Stanley likes having a new dog friend.
Around the Web
Carly offered two really interesting perspectives on the blogging industry this week in her posts The Tipping Point and Mom & Daughter Looks. I really encourage you to read both.
On a similar note, please get rid of your popups.
I definitely need to utilize this strategy to work on my big ebook project…
I’m all about improving my time management, so this list was a fun read.
I talked a little bit this week about how working from home can be lonely, so this article was very timely for me.
It was a big week in hockey! First, the Humboldt Broncos played their first game since the bus crash that claimed the lives of 10 of the players back in April. It was televised in the US and Canada without commercials.
Then, it was announced that Erik Karlsson, captain of the Ottawa Senators, was traded to the San Jose Sharks. The next day their second-line center tore his Achilles and is out for 6 months. The poor Senators…
Also, Steve Yzerman, or as he’s better known in Detroit, The Captain, resigned from his role as General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and now Red Wings fans are theorizing what this could mean for the Red Wings.
And, most heartbreaking for me personally, on Friday Henrik Zetterberg, captain of the Detroit Red Wings, announced his retirement due to chronic back injuries.
