Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! It’s time for the scratches.
The Week in Review
Overall, this week has been pretty uneventful. As I discussed in this week’s newsletter, I’ve been trying to regain my footing after a few weeks of procrastination and unproductive habits.
One of the ways I’m getting back into the swing of things is by making an effort with my appearance again. It’s really easy to roll out of bed and get right into the work day since I work from home, and because I really only see my dog, my cat, and my husband every day, it’s easy for my self-care to fall by the wayside. So starting this weekend I’m working on a new routine that includes doing my hair and makeup every day!
One thing that’s helping with that is a trip to Ulta! I got a free $50 gift card from a wellness program at Sean’s work, and I ended up spending the whole thing on Friday. #noregrets I got a new liquid eyeliner, the Stila Shimmer & Glow eyeshadow in Kitten, and the Urban Decay Naked Palette which is being retired (and looks to be sold out everywhere already?).
I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading lately, and this week I finished the book Sarah’s Key. It was so good! Really depressing, but I highly recommend it. After that I started The Peal Thief, which is the prequel to Code Name Verity.
I also found a local book club at my library that’s all about racism in America, and I’m super interested in joining. I’ve already checked the books out of the library, I just need to work up the courage to actually attend. Fingers crossed my anxiety doesn’t talk me out of it!
Today, I’m hoping to cross of my August goal / 101 in 1001 task of finding out my blood type! I’ve got an appointment this morning at Michigan Blood to donate, and I’m really nervous. The past few times I’ve had blood work done I’ve gotten close to passing out, so luckily Sean is coming with me today to hopefully calm my nerves! Wish me luck.
The Links
Sean told me about the subreddit SkincareAddiction, and I so appreciate their Beginners post. I found it really helpful, and I’m excited to start an actual skincare routine!
I really want to try this DIY beeswax wrap idea. I can see a trip to JOANN for some fun fabric in my future…
This is a really fun roundup of color palettes from your favorite TV apartments. I love how they put the graphics together—so creative!
I need to replicate this home office in my house! It definitely got my wheels turning about how I could improve my space.
