Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! It’s my third Sunday Scratches post in a row because I’ve been taking a short break from blogging, but I like coming back in and saying hi / sharing a roundup of the week each Sunday.
The Week in Review
I’ve been trying out Gutenberg on WordPress, and while it’s definitely something new to get used to, I think I like it! Though it’s going to make work interesting when I have to teach other people how to use it and they’re used to old-fashioned WordPress. We’ll see how it goes.
Sean and I finally went back to the rock climbing gym this week after a long hiatus. We have a membership, so it was disappointing that we spent about a solid month throwing money at something and not actually doing it. But we finally went back on Tuesday and bought some gear so we don’t have to rent any more, and I’m really glad we did! I’m looking forward to making it a regular thing again.
I mentioned last week that we invested in the AMC Stubs A-List program, which is basically the less volatile MoviePass specific to AMC Theatres. We continued our new movie-going habit this week with Crazy Rich Asians, and I loved it. I read all 3 books last winter, so I was super excited to hear that they were working on the movie. Plus, it’s directed by Jon M. Chu and stars Constance Wu and Awkwafina, so what’s not to love? I highly recommend it.
I finally finished watching all 10 seasons of Friends on Netflix, so now I’m looking for my next series to binge. Anyone have any recommendations? I’m definitely going to make Sean watch To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before with me. Probably this evening.
Yesterday our friends Elsbeth and Rob come over for a visit, and we ended up hanging out much longer than anticipated, which was awesome! We hit up Bell’s (because of course) and Tibb’s for some beers, and then walked around the Kalamazoo Mall for a while. It was a blast!
Today is reserved for meal prep, plus my mom, grandma, and aunt are coming over because my grandma and aunt haven’t seen our house yet. Thanks to all of the visitors, our house is actually quite clean, which is great!

When Elsbeth, Rob, Sean and I were walking around downtown Kalamazoo yesterday, we happened upon the Kalamazoo Candle Company, which I loved. So many good scents in beautiful glass jars with wooden tops. Definitely going to be doing some Christmas shopping there…
In addition to candles, they sold this stuff called PinchMe Therapy Dough. It’s basically Play-Doh for adults with really nice essential oils in them so they smell amazing. I might have to get some for myself soon… I can totally imagine playing with that during the 50 million webinars I attend through work.
This article on job searching as a black woman broke my heart. Our society is so messed up.
I really appreciated this insight into making a better to do list. And I’ve already updated my to do list process to reflect it! We’ll see how it goes.
Yaaaas to this. Also: eat the avocado toast.
It was National Relaxation Day earlier this week, so I fully appreciate this list of ways to relax.
This is so interesting! How do you wash your hair?
I love this idea, and I hope I remember to implement it once I become a manager and start hiring people.
This article on working too hard has helped me validate taking some time off of my blog.
Such a good reminder on keeping an eye on your unproductive habits.
I really enjoy Naomi’s writing style on Love Taza, and this blog post was a really great reminder. I highly recommend reading the whole thing (it’s not too long!)
I definitely need to implement some of these ideas, even if I’m not doing a stay-cation.
