A lot has happened in the sunroom since my latest update! Most notably, it’s no longer a collection of leftover furniture that didn’t really have a place in the house.
One of the first things we did when quarantine hit was rip the carpet out of the sunroom. There was original hardwood underneath, but it was a different color than the rest of the first floor because the living room and dining room had been refinished when the carpet was installed.
With quarantine in effect, we couldn’t get anyone to come out and refinish them, which means the floors mismatched for months. But we were happier with mismatched hardwood floors than we were with the carpet!
We actually ordered the desk before quarantine hit—we knew we wanted to put a desk in the sunroom as more of a temporary workspace, where we could sit in our laptops in the evenings or go through the mail. Then Sean started working from home and the need for a second office space became much greater.
The desk didn’t end up arriving until mid-May, which was aggravating (it wasn’t just because of the pandemic, it was a whole series of stupid events that led to the delay, which I’ll spare you), but now that it’s here we’re so happy with it.
We originally had it facing the front windows, but one day the sun was shining in my eyes and giving me a headache while I was working downstairs, so I turned the desk to the side of the room instead.

I really like it, but then we got two chairs and a side table for the side of the room and they’re starting to feel a little crammed. We’ll see where we land with furniture placement!

We also got a really cute new dog bed for Stanley! It was made by a woman I met while I studied abroad in Ghana. Of course, Stanley is very unsure of it, but Val loves it. At least it won’t go unused. 🤷🏼♀️

Then a few weeks ago we were able to have someone come out and do the floors! We worked upstairs while he worked downstairs, so we were able to be socially distanced while he was here. The colors are still a little different because the sunlight impacted the color of the living room floors, but it looks so much better.
We still have some updates to make to the space, but having an extra workspace is really helping with our anxiety levels. I’m excited to see where we go from here! ♥️
This is such a beautiful study! I love all the light and also the furniture.
The carpet is beautiful
Thank you so much!
