It’s no secret that I absolutely love Adobe’s products. But I’ve always had a Photoshop vs. InDesign rivalry going on in my head.

I’m super comfortable with both programs, but I keep going back and forth on which program I should use for certain projects. Some days, Photoshop makes more sense. Others, InDesign does.

So, I’ve made a comprehensive Photoshop vs. InDesign Guide on which program you should use, and when.creaa

My Favorite Travel Photo

My Favorite Travel Photo
When I got my first DSLR camera back in 2010, I was nervous to take it with me when I traveled. I had taken a Basic Media Photography class in college, but I still wasn’t super confident with all of the settings on my camera. So a lot of the time, I was just guessing. Would it even be worth it if I didn’t fully know how to use it?

Not long after I purchased it, I went to Chicago with my school’s Alternative Spring Break program, and we were going to be staying in a shadier part of town. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to bring it with me, but luckily a college friend convinced me. It was why I got it, after all.

Since getting over that initial fear, I’ve taken my DSLR camera with me everywhere. I’ve gotten a lot of great pictures over the years, but one stands out as my absolute favorite travel photo.

Blogging on a Budget: How to Get Free Graphics for Your Blog

This post contains affiliate links that I could make commission off of. All opinions are my own. Learn more.

As we’ve discussed before, blogging can get expensive quickly. But it doesn’t have to! As long as you know where to look.

Last week, I talked about why blog post header templates are so important to my blog. Well, they wouldn’t be as effective if they didn’t have photos, and I don’t have the blogging budget to pay for stock photos. And as much as I’d love to take photos and use my own photography, I just don’t have time for it.

Well, good news: there are lots of places online to get free stock photos and free graphics for your blog!

A Beginner's Guide to Manual Mode

Manual mode. One of the most intimidating aspect of photography.

My first (and only) college-level photography class taught me the basics of DSLR cameras. And while I really appreciated the overview, we didn’t have to use it in class. If we had a point-and-shoot camera, we were able to do the assignments.

So my biggest piece of advice: once you get a little comfortable with the following, practice using them. If you don’t use it, you lose it. Or whatever.

How to Insert an Image into Text in Photoshop

Hey—want some one-on-one help getting this set up? Book a 20-minute consultation and we can work through it via video chat!

Photoshop is an amazing program. It lets you do so much with your photography and design. But it can be overwhelming. Like… incredibly overwhelming.

For a long time, I knew that there was a way to put a pattern or a photo into text in Photoshop, but I had no idea how to achieve it. For a while, I did it in InDesign, creating outlines of the text and then inserting the image in the shape.

But here’s the big problem: you can’t change the text any more if you do it that way.

So when I found out how to put a pattern or photo into text in Photoshop while preserving the ability to change the text, I was ecstatic! And I knew I had to share.

Blogging on a Budget: Cheap & Easy Photo Backdrops

This post contains affiliate links that I could make commission off of. All opinions are my own. Learn more.

Blogging is an awesome hobby and career to have, but it can get expensive fast. With a ton of different classes, programs, hosting options, and products to purchase, it’s quite overwhelming.

One thing that doesn’t have to be expensive is photography. Sure, you could spend a ton of money on an SLR camera, but it isn’t necessary to make a good photo. You can use your iPhone just as well, as long as you’ve got a good eye for photography and some cheap photo backdrops.

So I guess that’s my personality now.
