Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday and happy Mother’s Day! Here are the scratches for the week.
We had a major life-changing moment last weekend: we got Stanley a doggy door! Now we just need to open the french doors between the dining room and the porch and he can let himself outside. It’s so nice because the porch floor gets really cold really quickly, so I don’t have to tip-toe through the porch to let him out any more!
I officially started Couch to 10K this week, and so far I’m really liking it! It has been a good challenge without feeling like I’m going to die. The first week is running for 60 seconds and walking for 90 seconds, so it’s also a good time for me to catch up with friends via text while walking. 😂
I worked on Sunday morning last week, which means I got to take Wednesday afternoon off! I thought about doing a bunch of productive things, but instead I just played Animal Crossing and did a little bit of work on my blog. It was so nice to just relax.
We also received new nightstands on Wednesday! We have a new bed frame that’s scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, so I’m planning on doing a blog post with an update on the master bedroom soon. Stay tuned! (You can see a sneak preview in Friday’s post.)
On Friday we (finally) had some arborists come to the house to trim back our massive tree in the backyard. They were originally scheduled to come out the last week of March, but we had to reschedule due to the stay at home order. Outdoor businesses have been allowed to resume work in Michigan, so they were able to come out and do a bunch of trimming. It’s such an anxiety relief! We no longer have branches scraping up against our roof, a bunch of dead branches have been taken down (which means fewer branches falling on windy days!), and our backyard should get a lot more sun. I’m glad we went with arborists, too, because they were able to make the cuts that would be best for the health of the tree, instead of just “if we take this one out, you’ll get more sunlight.” (Thanks, Angela, for the recommendation!)
Friday was also exciting because we got to try the beer we brewed 4 weeks ago! I’m happy to say that it’s actually really good, too! It throws me off because it’s a very red color, but it drinks very much like the IPAs I’m used to.
I was in a bit of a funk yesterday so I didn’t do too much besides play Animal Crossing and catching up on podcasts, but that seems to be exactly what I needed because I woke up today in a much better mood!
