Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! I’m writing this post a bit later in the day than normal because we had friends over this weekend to celebrate my birthday, and I’m just finally getting sitting down at my computer.
You know it’s a good weekend when you have almost no photos and no computer time because you were having too much fun IRL to think about technology!
Here are the scratches this week.
The Week in Review
As I said, we had a big group of friends over this weekend from all over the state to celebrate my birthday, which is on Tuesday (!!). One friend came over on Friday evening and we checked out the Hibachi Sushi Buffet. It’s one of those places that looks really sketchy but always has a packed parking lot, so we were curious but cautious. It was so good! Unlimited Asian food, including sushi, is always a good choice.
Yesterday, everyone arrived around lunch time and we headed downtown for most of the day’s activities. It started with sandwiches at Artisan Sandwich Co., and they were amazing. Definitely going back there soon.
We then went to one of my favorite places, Kalamazoo Candle Company, and made candles! They have drop-in candle making available at all times, and we had a blast making a bunch of candles (and naming them!). As I’m typing this we’re burning the one Sean made, which is a combination of Campfire and Red Wine #2, which he named Glamping.
As our candles were hardening, we went next door to Climb Kalamazoo for rock climbing! It was my first time rock climbing in about 3 months, but it was so good to be back, especially with my new item on my 101 in 1001 list that’s for rock climbing! We were also able to get everyone in for free because our membership includes guest passes, so that was awesome.
Once we were done rock climbing, we picked up our candles and half the group dropped them off at the house and checked on the dogs. The rest of us went to the Stamped Robin, one of our favorite winery and cocktail bars downtown. It was such a great way to relax after rock climbing!
After that we were pretty hungry, so we went across the street in search of food, but the wait was going to be an hour so we headed to Taco Bob’s for some crappy (but absolutely delicious) tacos. From there, we picked up some Ubers and headed to the Kalamazoo Wings for a hockey game!
After the game we came back to the house and listened to music, played Bingo on the Alexa device, and I showed everyone my amazing weighted blanket. Zach even bought one of his own, which he’s REALLY excited about.
This morning we got up and headed to Anna’s House for breakfast and then everyone headed home. As soon as everyone was gone, Sean and I slept for about 4 hours. It was such an amazing weekend, but I’m so exhausted now! haha
Other than the big weekend, we didn’t do too much this week. Sean brought home pad thai from A Thai Cafe for Valentine’s which was perfect.
I’ve got the day off tomorrow (President’s Day whaddup!), so I’m going to do more recovering, and hopefully some prepping for a fun project before I get back into the work week!
