Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! It’s been a hell of a week. Let’s get to the scratches!
The Week in Review
Last week Sunday, Sean and I continued our anniversary weekend by seeing a double feature at the movies! We have AMC Stubs A-List, which is basically the less volatile MoviePass, so we can see up to 3 movies every week at any AMC Theatre, for $20 per person per month. Our local theatre recently brought back both Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World, so we saw both and loved them!
We had about 3 hours in between the movies, so we walked around the corner to Olde Peninsula Brewpub and had some dinner and drinks, while getting another stamp on our Give a Craft Passports! It was a lot of fun and a beautiful day to sit outside enjoying some beer.
Monday was our actual anniversary, and we started it off with another punch on our passports, this time at Brite Eyes Brewing, a local brewery that serves breakfast, too! We didn’t get any beer this time, but the breakfast was delicious.
On Monday evening we planned to go to Maru Sushi, our favorite sushi restaurant in town, but it started pouring, so we decided to have a pizza delivered instead! We sat around and drank champagne and ate pizza while playing some board games, which was a bunch of fun and perfect for us.
Not wanting to give up on our sushi plans, Sean and I had dinner at Maru on Friday and it was wonderful. Expensive, but the most delicious sushi I’ve ever had.
Yesterday, Sean and I were in Grand Rapids doing some grocery shopping and meal prepping for my parents. My dad injured his hand earlier this week, so we put together a bunch of meals to make life a little easier for him and my mom!
On our way out of town, Sean and I stopped by Founders and… CBS was on tap! This was only my second time having CBS (it’s super rare, and the first time I stood in line for about 45 minutes and got one of the last bottles at the store), and it was such a nice surprise.
The Links
I finished The Hate U Give this week and damn… I didn’t know you could both love and hate a book so much at the same time. I hated it because it pointed out everything wrong with society, but I loved it because it made me feel those things. Highly recommend.
I really appreciate this roundup of money-saving investments that cost $20 or less. And now I feel guilty that I basically let summer go by without line-drying any of my clothes. Next year!
Similarly, here are 12 hobbies that might save you money. I’m happy to report that I do several of these things!
Back-to-school season makes me miss actually going back to school, especially now that I live right across the street from an elementary school! I’m trying to use this as motivation to stay smart without having to take any formal classes.
I’m a BIG fan of composting. If you’re interested in getting started, Trash is for Tossers has an awesome overview for you.
