Sunday Scratches is where I share the little stuff that has happened throughout the week. In hockey, “scratches” are people who are on the roster but do not play in the game. On the blog, “scratches” are the things that have happened to me throughout the week that aren’t necessarily big enough to be an entire post.

Happy Sunday! Here are the scratches for the week.
This week was a much-needed week off from work for me and Sean! My job has a vacation blackout starting tomorrow and running up until the week of Thanksgiving, and it worked out really well with both of our schedules to have this week off.
It’s felt both long and short, productive and unproductive, which feels right for 2020. Because who knows what’s even going on any more.
I’ve been working my way through my most recent list of recipes I want to try. So far I’ve made tiramisu, lemon poppyseed pancakes, and pita bread!
I also cooked up a storm yesterday, making some chocolate skull-shaped cakelets, pita bread, ice cream, and stuffed pasta. It was so nice but so hot. We had the windows open instead of running the AC, which was definitely a mistake. I swear the kitchen was 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house, even several hours after I stopped cooking.
On Wednesday, we drove out to the lakeshore for a picnic at the Felt Mansion, where Sean and I got married almost 3 years ago! It was so nice, and really fun to take Stanley around the property. Then we hiked through Saugatuck Dunes State Park to the beach. We didn’t swim, but we let Stanley romp around on the beach and got our feet wet.
Other than that, this week has been a lot of working around the house, playing Animal Crossing, and reading! I’ve only finished one book so far this week, which is less than I was hoping for. But I’m still making lots of progress on my 52 books this year, as well as on my August goals!
