101 in 1001 #3, Check-In #5

I’m now 90% of the way through my third 101 in 1001 list! 😱 If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a list of 101 things to accomplish in 1,001 days, or about 2.75 years. It’s longer than a to do list, more specific and actionable than a new year’s resolution, and shorter than a bucket list.

My current list started in October of 2020 and will wrap up in July of this year. I “should” be at 90 items completed at this point, but I’m not terribly worried about not crossing them all off. Right now I’m at 61 out of 101, which is still super solid!

A Very Merry Bromance Book Launch Party

Last week, I attended the book launch party of A Very Merry Bromance, the newest book by Lyssa Kay Adams!

Lyssa lives in the Lansing area, so her book launch party was hosted at Schuler Books, a local bookstore chain. The Okemos store is about an hour and a half away from me, but I made the 3-hour round-trip trek out to celebrate the fifth book in one of my favorite book series!

101 in 1001 #3, Check-In #4

Despite not blogging much for the past year, I’ve been working hard on my 101 in 1001 list, which is a list of 101 things I’d like to accomplish in 1,001 days. This is the third time I’ve done this—the 1,001 days stretch from October 2020 through July 2023, which means we’re now 75% of the way through!

It’s been quite a while since the last check-in, so warning: long post ahead!

Well, this is awkward. In my last post, I commented on how long it’s been since my last post, and how much I’ve missed blogging. And that was… 9 months ago. And, well, once again, a lot has changed. So let’s get into it.

A Few Days in Paris

After celebrating Athina’s wedding in Aix-en-Provence in southern France, we took the train back up to Paris! Neither of us had been before this trip, so we spent a few days exploring the city. It wasn’t nearly enough time, but we loved it nonetheless!

I just got back from the most amazing trip to France. It was my first time visiting, and it was for an absolutely beautiful reason—my best friend’s wedding!

Athina and I have known each other for 18 years now (yikes that makes me feel old). We met in high school, and had lockers next to each other almost every year. We still talk almost daily, even though she moved to France back in 2013.

When I found out she was engaged, I immediately knew I would do everything I could to attend the wedding. The pandemic made it a bit trickier, since we weren’t sure where the world would be at and whether we’d feel safe traveling. Then Russia invaded Ukraine, and French President Macron was highly involved in mediating the conflict.

Basically… it was just another year in this crazy world that we’ve somehow grown numb to.

Thankfully, everything worked out for Sean and I to attend Athina’s wedding and explore a bit of the country she now calls home. There’s a lot to cover, so I’m going to split our trip into two blog posts!

Hello hello! I’ve taken most of the summer off from the blog, but I’m excited to be back for a check-in on my 101 in 1001 list! If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a list of 101 things I’d like to accomplish in 1,001 days, or about 2.75 years. This is my third iteration of a 101 in 1001 list! It started on October 9, which means we’re now about 300 days in. Let’s see how I’ve done so far!

Laundry Room Renovations!

Our laundry room is in our semi-finished basement and isn’t super glamorous—but this is one of the room updates I’m most excited about! Ever since we’ve moved in, I’ve wanted to add cabinets and a countertop to our laundry room, and it finally happened.

I do most of our laundry, and the room was… terrible. It was empty except for an old washer and dryer, our water softener, and a concrete utility sink on rusted metal legs. Oh, and the previous owners left us an old IKEA table that… Sean promptly stole for the workshop. It needed some help.

Cue almost three years later and my wish came true!
