A favicon. Everyone has them, but not everyone knows what it is or how to change it.
When you’ve got multiple tabs open, you’ll see not only the page title, but a small icon to tell you what you’ll find in each tab. That little icon is the favicon.
Typically, when you first start your site, it’s going to be your host’s logo. So, how the heck do you change it to your own? It’s actually quite easy!
I recommend making your icon a .png with a transparent background. That way you only see the important parts without a white box around it! Here’s mine:
I made it a dinosaur foot to go with my blog title. Because it’s such a small space, I knew my dinosaur logo would look funny. It’s all about creativity and finding out what works best for your brand!
Now you’ll need to import it into your WordPress site. Luckily, WordPress just made this super easy!
On the left side, click on Appearance -> Customize. You’ll then click on the Site Identity menu.
You should see a spot to upload your site icon. Just import it, hit the Publish button, and voila! Your site icon is live.
Easy, right? So what’s stopping you from changing your site icon?
Such a great tutorial! A site favicon is so important to have!
Thanks, Gina!
