May 30, 2017

I get it. Popups are really effective. But what do you do if you REALLY don't like them, and feel morally obligated to keep them off of your site? Here's where to put opt-ins when you HATE popups.

This post contains affiliate links that I could make commission off of. All opinions are my own. Learn more.

You’ve probably heard that popups are super effective ways to grow your email list.

There are so many different kinds. Welcome mats take over literally the entire screen when someone gets to your site. Delayed popups appear after a given amount of time. Exit-intent popups that appear when someone gestures like they’re about to leave your page.

Okay, so there’s one type of popup that isn’t: on-click popups, which appear after you click on a button. But more on those later.

So, what do you do when you’re morally opposed to popups, but still want to grow your email list? Don’t worry, there’s plenty of options! Here’s where to put opt-ins when you really don’t like popups.

How to Save Time with Custom InDesign Page Sizes

October 26, 2016

InDesign is an amazing tool for so many things--ebooks, worksheets, even buttons for your website! But how can we save time with InDesign? By creating custom InDesign page sizes! Click through for the tutorial!

Hey—want some one-on-one help getting this set up? Book a 20-minute consultation and we can work through it via video chat!

If you’ve been reading And Possibly Dinosaurs for a while, you know that two of my favorite things are saving time and InDesign. So I’m super excited to share an awesome way to save time with InDesign: custom InDesign page sizes!

Whenever you open an InDesign document, it’s traditionally going to auto-fill your page size as a single-page, vertical letter-sized document. You can choose other options that have already been created for you, like Tabloid, Legal, and Half Letter. But what if you’ve got a custom size you’d like to be able to easily select from the drop-down menu without having to look up the dimensions each time?

That’s where custom InDesign page sizes come in! You can tell InDesign what page sizes you’d like available, and it will show them in the Page Size drop-down menu for you. Pretty awesome, right?
