There are plenty of reasons bloggers change their blog post URLs. Maybe they changed the name of the post for SEO, or they’re completely changing their domain name and don’t want to lose their old blog posts.

Well, the tricky part about changing your URLs is when your links break. One of my blogging friends, for example, had a viral pin, but it was directed at her old domain name. Luckily, we were able to redirect it to the same post on her new blog.

So, how do you do it?

How to Create Your Own Pin It Button (+ Free Graphics!)

How to Create Your Own Pin It Button (+ free graphics!)

It’s no secret that Pinterest is one of the top social networks and is incredibly important to bloggers. One of the best ways to get people to pin your content, in addition to having attractive images, is to have a Pin It button appear when they hover of your images.

When I first started blogging, I looked high and low for an attractive Pin It button for my website, but I came up dry. They ranged from “really bad” to “…fine,” and I didn’t want to sacrifice the attractiveness of my site for a stupid button. There has to be a better way… right?

Turns out there is!

How to Use Google for Your Blog's Email (For Free!)

Hey—want some one-on-one help getting this set up? Book a 20-minute consultation and we can work through it via video chat!

Ever since I figured out how to set up an email on my blog’s URL (caitlin@andpossiblydinosaurs.com), I’ve been wanting to pay to upgrade to Google Apps. Basically, that means I use Gmail, but it’s not an @gmail.com email address.

The only problem is, it’s $5/month, and you have to pay for a year up front. I have a very limited blogging budget ($0), so it was taking me a while to be able to upgrade.

And I hated it. I had to use one of the three provided by Bluehost, and it wasn’t pretty. The emails I sent out were text-only, so I couldn’t do any formatting or anything. It was just ugly.

Then, I found a solution on how to use Google for my blog’s email address. For free. And naturally, I had to share.

In the blogging world, there are three main platforms that get the most attention: Blogger, WordPress, and Squarespace. I’m personally a fan of WordPress because it’s super easy to use. I’ve been using it for quite a few years now, so I’m super comfortable with it.

And even better: it’s really easy to install on a self-hosted website.

After a year or so of domain hosting struggles, I found (and subsequently fell in love with) Bluehost. Here’s how to install WordPress on Bluehost. (Spoiler: it’s super quick and easy.)

How to Back Up Your WordPress Site

Not too long ago, I was editing my blog’s code when something terrible happened. I was trying to change a small piece of code for my resource library when all of a sudden my website crashed. Nothing was showing up on the front end, and I couldn’t access the back end.

Luckily, I made a smart move when I purchased my domain and moved everything over from Domain.com to Bluehost. And I won’t purchase a site without it.

How to Change Your Site Icon

A favicon. Everyone has them, but not everyone knows what it is or how to change it.

When you’ve got multiple tabs open, you’ll see not only the page title, but a small icon to tell you what you’ll find in each tab. That little icon is the favicon.

Typically, when you first start your site, it’s going to be your host’s logo. So, how the heck do you change it to your own? It’s actually quite easy!
