How to Tolerate an Intolerable Work Environment

How to Tolerate an Intolerable Work Environment

I’m going to preface this post by saying that this content is not inspired by or referencing my current job. So if any of my coworkers are reading this, I’m not talking about you! 😜

We spend about a third of our life at work. With that kind of time investment, you better like your job! Or at least be passably okay with it.

So when you find yourself in an intolerable work environment, what can you do to, well… tolerate it? Because few of us have enough savings to quit without something else lined up (but, you know, #goals), we have to spend at least a little bit of time in this situation before finding something new.

My Morning Routine

Thanks to mine and Sean’s recent move back to Michigan, I’ve had the opportunity to switch up my morning routine. Before the move, I heard on the podcast Happier that the best time to start a new habit is right before a big life change, like a move. Hearing this while in the midst of moving was really helpful, because it prompted me to really ask myself what habits I want to change, and then figure out how to implement them in my new life. That’s how I came up with this morning routine.

January 4, 2018

Working from home is an awesome perk, but it can lead to less-than-ideal habits. Living in your pajamas, never leaving bed, forgetting to hydrate... it can turn ugly quickly. So how do you take care of yourself when you work from home?

For the past few months, thanks to massive construction projects taking over my office, I’ve gotten to work from home almost exclusively. It’s an awesome perk, but it can lead to less-than-ideal habits.

Living in your pajamas, never leaving bed, forgetting to hydrate… it can turn ugly quickly. So how do you take care of yourself when you work from home?

So I guess that’s my personality now.
