As you may have heard, I got a new Keurig a few weeks ago and I’m #obsessed.
It’s teal (my favorite color) and fits perfectly on the corner of my desk at work. I’m so excited that I can have good coffee at work again!
In celebration, I decided to make some DIY painted coasters to match. My cubicle is grey, grey, and grey, so I love having some stuff to brighten it up a bit. Coasters seemed like the perfect thing to add!
What You Need:
- Cork Coasters
- Paint (I used outdoor paint)
- Tape
- Paint brushes
- Sealer
First, you’ll want to tape off the blocks you want to paint. I did some fun colorblocking, but you could also paint the coasters solid if you wanted to.
I painted all of mine the same color because it matches my Keurig and I happened to have it on hand from my DIY cat grass and catnip planter, but you could do different colors, too!
Then, paint! I did 2-3 coats on each coaster, using small strokes away from the tape. This helped ensure that the lines were crisp once I took the paint off.
Once the paint dried, I carefully removed the tape, took them outside, and sprayed the sealer over the top. I did three coats of sealer, allowing it to dry between coats.
And voila! Super easy and fun. You could do a lot of different things with this project. Just be warned: depending on the sealer you use, it might take a bit to get the smell out.
Have you ever made your own DIY painted coasters before? Tell me about it in the comments!
So simple, yet so cute. I love the color too. I also love your cup!
Thank you, Shann! 🙂 My boyfriend got it for me, so he will be very happy to hear that!
These are so cute and simple 🙂 Awesomely kid-friendly too!
Very good point! I don’t have kids, so I don’t think about that type of thing, but it’s definitely kid-friendly! But maybe leave the sealing to the adults, just in case 😉
