And so continues my “A Short Trip to _____” saga that is 2019!
This past weekend, Sean and I went up north to Traverse City for my friend Lexie’s wedding! She’s one of my very first friends, and now we can officially say we were bridesmaids in each other’s weddings. 🤗
Because Sean and I had never been to Traverse City together, we decided to make a long weekend of it from Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning. And it worked out, because in the end that’s what a lot of the wedding party did!
On Thursday, we checked into our room and then met up with Lexie, her fiancé (now husband!) Chris, and some of their family and friends for a winery tour. We went to Bowers Harbor, Chateau Chantal, Bonobo, and Left Foot Charley. Chateau Chantal was definitely my favorite!

The next day, I had an appointment to get my nails done with Lexie and some of the other ladies in the wedding. I never get my nails done (I always do them myself), so it was a fun treat!
That evening we had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. We went to Boone’s Long Lake Inn for dinner, and had some amazing prime rib. Yum! Apparently they have a contest where if you eat their 24 oz prime rib in one sitting, you don’t have to pay for it. I couldn’t finish my 8oz prime rib in one sitting, so….. that contest isn’t for me.
Once we got back from the rehearsal, I met up with my parents who were also in town for the wedding. We swung by Monkey Fist Brewing Company and caught up, which was so nice.
Saturday was the big day! We were all a little concerned about the weather, because it had been raining all weekend and the wedding was going to be outside on the beach. We were being optimistic, and miraculously the sun came out a few hours before the ceremony! It was just enough time for the sand, grass, and chairs to dry off before everyone arrived.
It was a little bit chilly and windy, but I didn’t really mind. It was such a beautiful day, even if it wasn’t 80 degrees outside!

The wedding itself was at 4, and the reception started around 6 (with a cocktail hour in between), and somehow Sean and I made it all the way until it ended at midnight! Lexie’s family loves weddings, so the dance floor was packed the whole time. My favorite kind of wedding!
At one point, her high-school-aged cousin did the entire dance to In My Feelings by Drake. I was so impressed… and now I have a new life goal. I want to be that person at a wedding.
The next morning we slept in a bit, then checked out before heading to Morsels. We had seen it on a walk earlier in the week, and it did not disappoint!

First of all, any place that has good coffee is worth it in my book. And Morsels definitely did!
Plus, their namesake desserts were delicious. They’re tiny little bite-size cakes in a bunch of different flavors. I got Seventh Heaven and Brownie Points, while Sean got Espresso Yourself and Devil’s in the Details. Mine were amazing and, well… we didn’t try each other’s because we didn’t want to share.

Naturally we had dessert first, but we also got actual breakfast food! I got avocado toast (it had cream cheese on it! genius!), and Sean got the Boardman Biscuit. They were both pretty small portion sizes, but we were pleasantly surprised with how filling they both were. Or maybe the morsels helped… it’s a toss-up.
After that, we headed back to the car and made the 3 hour drive home! It went by pretty quickly (the best weekends do!) but we were so glad to have a mini vacation in the middle of an otherwise crazy time in our lives. We can’t wait to go back soon!
